I am seeing a new and young Family practitioner and after telling her my neurologist after having 2 MRIs cervical and spine she just wanted to up my gabapentin and was fine with me taking 4 mg of ropinirole 2 x a day...and then dismissed me as a patient after I said I have been on gabapentin for over 10 years I have weened myself of and down from 3 300mg 3 x a day to 2 300mg 2 times a day and i would like to try something else. She actually told me i was free to find someone else,

anyway this new young Dr after i went to see her for an initial visit, she questioned why are you on so much medicine.. she had not gotten all my records yet but enough to know there was a better way to handle my restless leg, neuropathy and just plain hurting all over.. she prescribed Duloxetine.. and I am restless leg free all day, i take a ropinirole at night and 2 gabapentin and i have never felt so good,, i see her again in 2 weeks and hopefully i can get my med upped so i can be free at night of leg pain, dancing in my bed, burning swollen feet, anyone else on this drug,,,if not talk to your DR about it,, rest easy annie

I'm glad that works for you. For most people it makes RLS worse. I take 1500 mg of gabapentin which completely controls my RLS and I can take things that make others RLS worse like melatonin, estrogen and benadryl. But when my doctor gave me gave me Duloxetine my RLS went through the roof.

It's listed on every RLS charity help and website as an RLS trigger. It helps neuropathy, and nerve pain, so maybe you have both RLS AND nerve pain.

It shouldn't be prescribed for RLS patients generally.
