I can remember back in the early 1980s trying to find answers to the strange feelings I had in my legs. I had no idea what was going on and I came across a handwritten blog on the computer by a lady who was describing exactly the symptoms I had. She was quoting Willis Ekbom and did a daily blog of how she was feeling. It was a long time ago and I really can't remember all the details. I know I found it so interesting and it prompted me to go to my GP. Who if course didn't have a clue. But eventually started me on Sinnemet.
I'm just wondering if anyone else can recall this.
Or in my sleep deprived state have imagined it. LoL

If it’s who i think you mean her first name was Eileen and she did it in her front room on her computer i was also in touch with her and she sent me some leaflets. I am sure i still have them some where. It was the start of RLS-UK when she couldn’t do it any more
Yes, that's right!! She used to write something every day. I seem to remember some hand written notes but may be wrong about that. So that was the start if RLSUK.
Yes almost sure it was the start of RLS-UK. But didnt start in HU but had its only site for RLSers but it kept getting scam people on it so they shut it down. Then think it came on HU i joined on HU at the beginning but these days only comment or post occasionally now we have very knowledgeable and experienced members to give advice. 😊
Is it a conicident that RLS has recently become widespread as processed foods have become more prevalent, and Ekbom's description of RLS came shorty after the introduction of commercialised sugar refining. The recent increase in prevelance of RLS comes quickly after the foundation of John Harvey Kellogg's company and his promotion of highly processed grain based foods.
Refined sugar, refined carbohydrates and refined vegetable oil causes chronic inflammation in the whole body and neuroinflammation is I believe the root cause of most cases of RLS.
It's fairly simple to prove, just cut out refined sugar and processed foods from your diet and see if it makes a difference, if it doessn't at least you'll have improved your general health and probably dropped a dress size or two.
