I was fortunate to receive a referral at Mayo to a sleep specialist last month. She prescribed Buprenorphine/Nalox 2 mg/0.5 mg in strength, and to take 1/2 of a tablet under the tongue at bedtime.
I am asking if this promotes dental decay?

To repeat what others have advised. Joolsg says all forms of Buprenorphine cause dry mouth during the night -for many and it's the lack of saliva that causes the tooth issues so buy products for Sjogrens/dry mouth. Chewing sugar free gum will also increase saliva.
Someone suggested Boots Dry Mouth Spray.
Dougg's suggestions: Keep the sublingual tablet under my tongue and away from my teeth as much as possible.
Rinsing your mouth right afterwards with baking soda water or something that's very alkaline. Follow the baking soda rinse with a mouthwash called CloSys.
Per Shumbah teeth problem is more so with Temgesic since it is more acidic and people are taking multiple tablets a day or at a time. Subutex version is better as much less is required. It should always be broken into tiny splinters and pop a little splinter under tongue at a time it is absorbed in seconds with zero residue.
I have been on Buprenorphine pills for 3 years. Zero teeth problems. But my mouth is extremely dry. I believe that's why teeth problems happen. People using the patch report teeth problems as well, so the FDA report that Buprenorphine causes decay due to its acidity in the mouth seems totally inaccurate & 'guessing' at reasons.I use biotene mouth wash and spray and chew gum.
Thank you Joolsg, I appreciate the follow-up on your behalf. I do allow it to dissolve under the tongue, and follow-up with teeth brushing about 20 minutes later (the pharmaceuticals recommend 30 minutes) I am pleased a product is out there, plus a Mayo doctor who was quite thorough, and listened to my symptoms, as opposed to prescribing more methadone (which that wasn't working)
