does president biden have RLS?

no one knows what illness president Biden might have

A Parkinson. Expert has visited him 8 times in the last six months

He does not have Parkinson or Alzheimer’s

so what does he have that requires a neurologist.that he does not want known.and that might affect his cognitive abilities during the day?

I think maybe rls

some of our drugs cause daytime cognitive decline

As of course does lack of sleep

if he does have rls then let’s hope he publicises it and gets our dreadful illness more publicity and research funds

Interesting.

Interesting indeed. If RLS affects 1 in 10 and if 2% have it severely, then it's a possibility.

I doubt it. Parkinson's experts are neurologists who treat many things.

Possibly dementia as they live in denial. My father had it. So sad.

I think we should leave his health situation to him, his family, his doctors, and maybe his closest staff. Never diagnose someone ‘from a distance’.

Sounds far worse than RLS...dementia of some kind. RLS is not making me confused and forgetful of people's names etc..

Dementia isn't the only thing which can affect recall of names and cause confusion - B12 deficiency commonly does both.

Anybody who is older is forgetful of people's names. It has nothing to do with dementia. You're 77 - do you remember everyone's name?

It's been widely reported in the news, following the President's physical exams, that he has a combination of significant spinal arthritis, post-fracture foot arthritis, and a sensory peripheral neuropathy of the feet--and thus his stiff/shaky gait. Also, in 2023 he began using a CPAP machine for sleep apnea.

A neurologist HAS NOT visited Biden 8 times in the last 6 months. The FACT is there have been numerous neurological visits at the White House in support of the thousands of active duty military support personnel assigned in support of White House operations. Biden has not seen a neurologist outside of his annual physical. Facts matter. There is too much at stake. That is the only reason I am posting the reply.

Whatever it is I think that it's highly likely to be due to eating something close to the standard American diet all his life.

Ridiculous!

Do you have proof of that?

Do you have proof of your statement?😀

O but in the absence of any hard evidence to the contrary any self respecting Doctor should consider it as a possibility.

Seriously, Eryl?

Yes, its possible. Hippocrates said "Let food be thy medicine". That also means that if your diet is bad you'll damage your body.

Sure. I agree. But with respect to president Biden? Again, don’t diagnose or judge someone one doesn’t know more or less intimately. Please.

I didn't diagnose, I didn't even mention any disease, I just suggested that there may be a possibility of a connection.

Eryl, ignore the naysayers. I mean literally ignore them. Do not respond to their questions or statements. You are this site’s resident dietician and you practice what you preach AND you are unmedicated RLS free. Your detractors are not. You’ll keep getting better and they’ll keep getting worse.

A part of me believes that our bodies have a master switch and that switch is our gut microbiome. The only way Sloan Kettering knows how to “improve” one’s gut microbiome is via the diet you preach. Or possibly a fecal transplant. Who wants that. They don’t even recommend probiotics. mskcc.org/news/your-gut-mic...
