If you have specific medicines you are concerned about I can tell you if they make RLS worse. I have 23 pages single spaces of such drugs, obviously too many to list here.

Here is one general but not complete list: Sedating antihistamines, SSRI and SNRI antidepressants, tricyclic antidepressants, statins, diuretics, estrogen, lithium, melatonin,, calcium antagonists (Calcium channel blockers), central nervous system stimulants, dopamine antagonists, many but not all anti-nausea medicines, some but not all antacids, some but not all beta blockers, some but not all anti-hypertensives, some but not all blood thinners, some but not all anti-anxiety, many medicines that treat bipolar and other mental health problems, many medicines that treat epilepsy and many drugs that treat GERD

Hi Sue, thanks for replying. I am particularly interested in sleeping pills.

Zopiclone and Zolpidem.

Would either of these be safe ?

Thanks Sue

They are both safe. I took Zolpidem myself for awhile and it worked well

I take Zopiclone and have no adverse reactions.

This information is excellent when discussing with the GP. I am a member of RLS UK but had neglected to read the information on the web site. Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

There is also a list on the treatment page of dr Buchfuhrer’s website, rlshelp.org

However that site is not up-to-date. I checked it awhile back and just checked it again. For example it says the average dose of gabapentin is 800 to 900 mg. and says take iron 3 times a day. I emailed him and he admitted it was not up-to-date but said he didn't have the time to do it. So beware.

I found that Zepbound (tirzepatide) also causes RLS especially 1-2 days after the injection. However, you get used to it as time progresses.

I wouldn’t be surprised if others like Ozempic, Wegovy etc cause the same problem.

Hello, does Eliquis aggravate RLS?

I haven't been able to find anything that says it is not OK but 2 people on this forum said it made RLS worse.
