Non alcoholic drinks

With the introduction of non alcoholic drinks and knowing it is recommended, when taking Gabapentin, you don’t drink alcohol. Is it safe to take these non alcoholic drinks?

Of course you can drink non-alcoholic drinks

In fact you can drink alcohol when taking gabapentin. Both gabapentin and alcohol individually cause CNS depression. When combined, they can worsen this effect, leading to drowsiness, dizziness, and impaired coordination.

Alcohol, however makes RLS worse for many people.

I reckon it's the sulphites that set of the fidgeties.

However, it seems to vary as to which 00 % beers are ok. I am grand with Erdinger alcohol free beer. And it tastes just great!😝

But some east European lagers are dynamite.

Haven't a clue what the difference is.

Thanks Sue, I’ve done without alcohol for a few years so I’ll continue to avoid it.

When I "indulge" in a mock tail I still avoid the sweeter concoctions- sugar is an RLS trigger for me and many others. I've done ok with zero % beer. I'm in the US.

Thanks Poor Richard, legs can be bad at times so don’t want to aggravate them anymore.

Don't sacrifice something you enjoy without experimenting a bit. As Sue warns, there can be an interaction, and for many alcohol is a RLS trigger. So start slow. But for many, including me, any alcohol in moderation is fine - it doesn't affect my RLS or make me dizzy, sleepy, etc.

I find that tonic water helps my RLS, but I don't want to be drinking G&Ts all the time😉(well, I would, but it's probably not a good idea). So I find that an evening tipple of the Italian Vittoria bitters with tonic water is very refreshing and (for some reason) I often have little or no RLS during the night.

Thanks Tildabri for your input, sounds an interesting concept.
