Hi Contra, Madlegs may be right, this sounds like it's nerve related, neuropathy/nerve pain
I am surprised your doctor hasn't recognised that.
I'm afraid this forum may not be of much to you as you don't have RLS. I have to say, you've been in a variety of forums about various health problems.
I'm not doubting you have some genuine conditions, but the common theme throughout your many posts seems to be anxiety, specifically your health anxiety.
I'm not suggesting you should stop taking any medication you've been prescribed, e.g. for your hypothyroid. However, I would suggest you seek some professional help with your psychological problem, chronic anxiety.
This would help you deal better with any physical ailments you have and stop you from worrying about every symptom.
You may also find your doctor is more responsive and sympathetic.
How do you know i dont have rls ?its why i came here and not to be judged on my previous posts. My symptoms are real.I have been seeing a professional 4 years but it doesnt work that way but thanks for telling me what i need.
Sorry if you do have RLS, you don't say that you nave and the symptoms you describe aren't RLS so I presumed.you don't. If you do have RLS it was presumptious of me.
It's not a "judgment" to note that there's a common theme in your past posts which suggests you suffer from chronic anxiety, it's just an observation. If this also isn't true or it was true but now you've dealt with it, then I also apologise for that. Then there's nothing further you need to do.
My comments were intended to be helpful, not critical. If you are struggling psychologically with your health problems then it is known that developing resilience and tackling anxiety can significantly help in promoting general well being.
Comments made on this site aren't intended to be taken as medical advice and I can only make comments on the information you give. If my comments are inaccurate it's because I don't have any information i.e. about your RLS symptoms or I have misinterpreted the patterns I see. Although I am qualified enough to recognise psychological issues, I am, on this site, just another member and can make mistakes.
It's entirely up to you to either reject or accept what someone says on this site. If you don't feel they are helpful, they you can ignore them .
The symptoms you describe and ask for help with are not symptoms of RLS they are neuropathic symptoms. The best advice you could get about this would be from a doctor.
RLS is diagnosed by symptoms alone, there is no test.
The diagnosis however does need to be confirmed by a doctor and this may have to a neurologist.
However as someone who has experienced symptoms for decades and has been diagnosed by a neurologist quite a few years ago and has read the diagnostic criteria I would be able to recognise someone's symptoms as probably being due to RLS. I'd then suggest they consult a doctor to confirm this.
If you describe what symptoms you have then I could say whether that sounds like the symptoms identified in the diagnostic criteria.
I already suffer from vestibular migraine and am dizzy always. I’m asking you what are the rls symptoms? I just have heavy hot burning aching thighs non stop
If you've been anaemic for 20 years you must have had some treatment for it. Despite this, it does sound as if your iron stores will be low. Another blood test for this would be a Ferritin test.
Low iron stores can cause RLS If this is the case then, with your history, you may need and be able to get fairly aggressive iron replacement treatment.
This is the criteria for RLS, all must be met for a diagnoses, the urge to move your legs a urge you cant resist, if you think you have all the criteria then you have RLS, if not then you dont. irlssg.org/diagnostic-crite...
I would be very upset if anyone suggested my RLS was psychosomatic. For years my wife had to fight stupid doctors who insisted that RSI was a condition invented by lazy people to escape a days work. I hope they all experience something similar and they are given valium for their broken legs.
Hi Graham, yes I agree, I too would be very upset if anyone suggested RLS was psychosomatic. In fact any condition that has a physiological cause.
I'm not sure however why you make this comment here, has anyone suggested it?
I'm sorry that your wife had to struggle with doctors ignorance for years. In that situation I think it would be beneficial for society in general if they were made to see their ignorance, and be helped to how to show more respect and compassion to their patients. Or be barred from practising.
It might feel getting your own back by mistreating them in return is good If you could do it without feeling guilty.
