If you mean burping, that is not a normal side effect of gabapentin. Was pregabalin better? Ginger tea and chamomile tea may also help relieve gastrointestinal irritation and prevent stomach acid from flowing back up the esophagus.

And you say it is OK if you are alone. In other words you have the problem when others are around? Very strange.

I mean flatulence and by saying I don't mind if I'm alone I mean I can't break wind in public

Understood. See optimistminds.com/does-gaba... for ways to help.

Flatulence is a common side effect of gabapentin according to the British National Formulary. I don't know whether SueJohnson 's suggestion and/or moving to pregabalin will help: the BNF does NOT list flatulence as common with pregabalin

Thank you, I tried pregabalin before and I felt dizzy all the time and put on a lot of weight very quickly

BTW it would be helpful if you added country (and gender) to your profile: I suspect you're not in the UK so didn't bother to link to the BNF listing ,as you can't access outside UK unless using a VPN

I am on Pregabalin, Longtec and Trazadone and asked the same question recently of my own GP. Wind and constipation are side effects of all of those. Annoying, not pleasant, but you are not alone.

Amitriptyline is an antidepressant and won't help RLS. In fact it makes RLS worse for many. Duloxetine is an SNRI antidepressant which also won't help RLS and make RLS worse for many.

I have also had bloating, nausea and diarhrea. Not sure if it is associated with Gabapentin as I've been on it for nearly 3 months, but it was interesting to read your post and the subsequent info from Sue Johnson. I'm undergoing tests at the moment to try to determine the cause of my problems but if they all come back normal I think I may change to Pregabalin.
