It could be the sugar.

I've looked them up for ingredients, but there is some confusion. One source says that there is colours E122 and E 142.

Most artificial colours cause a reaction.

Another source claims they are only natural colours.

It is just possible you took another medication. Many cough meds are dynamite for RLS.

I've used Jakemans lozenges without any problems.

Good luck.

I took some benylin cold and flu tablets a couple of days ago could it be that?

Benylin is a notorious RLS trigger.

Well done for spotting it.

Definitely not taking those again I've been on pregabalin for weeks now and haven't had any rls symptoms until 2 nights ago so now I know the trigger I will just be taking paracetamol until this chest infection clears up x

it’s astonishing what sets RLS off! I come across things all the time. I detoxed from absolutely everything and it was a living hell and took months and months. I had a short spell of being asymptomatic after that but now it has returned so I have just commenced on 900mgs of Gabapentin at 9pm with a good deal of success. It had helped my sciatica at night as well which is a bonus and I am getting a decent night’s sleep most nights. I still get RLS and PLM affecting all limbs occasionally and I have to consider what may have set it off each time. The most unlikely and innocuous substances can do it. Often it is impossible to tell as it may be an ingredient in my food. I do know that even in my 20s and 30s I became aware that most cold /cough remedies affected me very badly. I am 70 now and an expert!!!! I hope you are able to get some respite from it and live a reasonably normal life. Good luck .

You made me laugh as I am now 70 and I always say I am an "expert".Having said that I was knocked off my perch when I joined this forum and realised how little I knew compared to Sue & Joolsg!

I could have sworn you said you would never take gabapentin 😀? Anyway I am glad the gabapentin in working, Since you need more than 600 mg take the extra 4 hours before bedtime as it is not as well absorbed above 600 mg. You may find you can get by with 800 mg total or you may find that "most nights" become all nights.

I decided to give it another try as I had completely washed out all previous meds including a short trial of Gabapentin. I have had increased RLS over the last four months and it’s been horrible but not as awful as the detox from Dopamine Agonists. That was something off the scale and frightening! Those things should be banned completely for RLS. It’s appalling that they are still prescribed. I do worry about Gabapentin and will take your advice regarding timing. So far so good and no side effects. Time will tell .
