Some of life's treats!

Has anyone had an occasional glass of wine when on buprenorphine?I take my low dose buprenorphine at 10pm plus gabapentin (I find wine has no side effects on gabapentin). I am slowly reducing the gabapentin.

If folks do have a glass of wine I usually have a glass of white wine at 7pm with evening meal but not sure if I can sometimes treat myself now I am (successfully) on buprenorphine& if so what time should I have a vino?

Also does it make a difference vis-a-vis white or red wine?

We have a holiday coming up to celebrate a wedding anniversary & it would be nice to enjoy a glass!

Any wine advice for an old 73 yrs!

Hi Simkin, I am on buprenorphine (patch) and take an occasional glas of wine. Or two. As that is always in the evenings, I don't notice any other than normal effects. I usually sleep well on the buprenorphine and if I get more sleepy on the wine - I don't notice! No differences between red or white wine for me. I do prefer a red, though.

I use 1 in M and 2 in PM of Gabidentine. UK has 2400 and my total is 900 and I keep it that way. It does help RLS but stress and staying in pre-sleep two long lets some symptoms occur. But ocasional wine is no problem unless you are excessive with 3-4 glasses. Bill in Shoreline , Wa. I moved from New Mexico. good luck. Do not strive to be 100% free all the time unless you are an addict.

It's not advised because of the CNS effects but I'm sure many people do have a glass. My advise is to try 1/2 a glass first especially since you are also taking gabapentin. Also even not taking any medicines for some people it can make RLS worse..

Good idea, Sue. I will experiment.Thanks.

It may be perfectly fine but as a note of caution, the more drugs one takes (including alcohol) the greater the risk of adverse effects.

I drink beer, gin, advocaat, wine and take 0.4mg Buprenorphine. I've had zero issues/problems so far.

I think, in moderation, alcohol is fine, but perhaps trial half a glass to ensure you don't have any adverse effects.

I am on a similar opioid .... drinking wine every night (two large glasses) has no effects for me whatsoever.
