I was going to ask doctor to prescribe dipyridamole. I know it causes headaches in over a majority of patients. My question is for those who have tried it and failed, did the headaches stop with stopping the dipyridamole?

From memory, I persisted with dipyridamole for 2 or 3 weeks but headaches never lessened despite reducing the dose.
In a stroke study about 30% of people suffered headaches (with less strokes). In this paper the headaches mostly reduced after 5 days - ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articl...
