Withdrawals from Pramipexole.

Hi everyone i had been taking one .088mgs pramipexole for approx 3 years plus one or two 8/500 cocodamol at night it’s never been perfect as my tolerance to meds is lowi can’t take high doses. Recently i have had 3 nights and days of meds not working and out this down to the pramipexole and augmentation. So stopped the pramipexole as it was one pill i didn’t try to cut it thought it would be ok to just stop it. I have been using tramadol and 15mgs cocodamol at night to help with the withdrawals it’s not perfect and i am not sleeping much. I am asking how long before the withdrawals start to ease up. I can’t take gabapentin or any other med tried them in the past and had to come off them. The tramadol i am just about tolerating.

I'm sorry to hear about the withdrawals Elisse. I think most people experience 2 weeks of severe RLS and the symptoms then start to settle. After a month, you should be back to pre Pramipexole levels of RLS.I hope it's not too traumatic.

Thanks Jools the worse withdrawals are at night i could take more tramadol but tried that and i was completely zonked out the next day my daughter was trying to get in touch with me and i never heard her she was close to coming round to see if i was ok. So i am taking two tramadol and 15mgs cocodamol at night. But then taking 15mgs cocodamol during the day for the day time withdrawals then end up very drowsy so sleep during the day. So it’s not very bad withdrawals compared to what others go through when on higher doses of any DA. It’s been 5 nights tonight of no pramipexole hoping the dopamine receptors behave soon. x

Not much wisdom to share with you, Elisse. Just wanted to give you the heads up. Good that you stopped at these earliest signs of augmentation. I do hope too that symptoms settle soon.

Do you have a plan for after the withdrawal? I assume that the tramadol is not a longterm option for you.

Thank you Lotte here i am asking for advice when all i used to do was giving out advice to others. Not sure what i will take after the withdrawals as i used to be on tramadol and came off it as like all the meds side effects were too much the next day. So will work that out on what i can take. x

It took 4 weeks for my symptoms to settle after taking my last dose of ropinirole. Sounds like you are in the the most difficult time right now. If all goes well thing will settle soon. At that point maybe your current dose of tramadol will cover your symptoms. We can hope!

Thank you Birdland. i think i am over the worse. As it was only one pramipexole of 0.088mgs i just stopped it no weaning off a high dose. I did sleep better with less getting up to pace last night. Legs are calmer this morning. I need to see if i can stay on the tramadol as it knocks me out in the day so can’t function. Otherwise will go back on the cocodamol. Thanks for your reply.
