Keto diet warning

Just came across this snippet. I know some people advocate the Keto diet as a possible relief for RLS. So - just passing on.

"The ketogenic diet, long used for weight loss and epilepsy treatment, is now being studied for its potential in slowing the growth of tumours. A recent study in mice revealed that the keto diet slowed tumour growth but also accelerated cachexia, a severe wasting disease."

"Keto diets shrink pancreatic and colorectal tumors by starving them of the glucose they need to survive. But they also speed up development of a lethal wasting disease called cachexia. In mice, researchers have found that pairing keto with a corticosteroid prevents cachexia and increases survival."

This is mind blowing information. I've lost my closest family members in the last four years due to blood cancer, lung cancer, pancreatic cancer. The chemo regimes were ghastly. I hope the Metabolic Therapy will gain in strength over time. But what a mountain there is to climb. Thanks so much for sharing this. Enlightened but sad.
