Saw the doctor

I wrote for advice recently before seeing my GP recently as I have been through DAs and Gabapentine and Pregabalin. Thank you to all who responded.

He has suggested Tramadol which I am starting tonight - let's see what happens this time! I really hope it works as I was up until 5am walking up and down and bouncing on an exercise ball. Any hints and tips for being on Tramadol would be grateful received.

Just be aware that tramadol is the only one where it possible to suffer from augmentation.

I take Tramadol and it works well for me. However, I tend to reach tolerance with any medication rather quickly so I alternate with oxycodone. I get harsh rebound from the oxy so I really hate taking it, but if I tough it out for a couple of weeks then the Tramadol works well again for a month or so. However, I still don’t get good sleep due to insomnia issues. I manage to sleep about 90 minutes at a time and then am up for about as long before I can go back to bed. I have seen where some people have taken Tramadol for years and had great success. I hope you’re one of them.

I found Tramadol great for many years. Tolerance does build up.So I used to do a month's drug holiday and it kicked back in again.Huge good luck.

tramadol only helps a little for a short time

The opiate in helps for a very short time

Methadone in the lowest dose works much better and lots longer

I don't think my own doctor would give me Methadone, but he would be happy to refer me to a neurologist, who presumably would be able to.
