Pramipexole update

After eight weeks of cutting back, I have finally done three nights without any pramipexole. Immediately I suffered a return to restless legs, but taking some CBD gummies has helped. Mentally, I feel much better knowing that I am no longer dependent on the tablets. Physically, I feel weird but I suppose that is to be expected.

My question is this: what are typical symptoms of coming off the drug and how long might they continue? Please note I was only on Pramipexole for six months and I only ever took two tablets per day. Any guidance would be much appreciated.

Good luck to everybody else fighting this battle.

That;s great !!! The symptoms should settle in a few weeks and will be back to the ones you had before you started pramipexole,

Sorry to hear about your ongoing problems. I guess in the end we all have to choose what works best for us. Here’s wishing you some wonderful sleep.

I too am coming off Pramipexole and am now struggling with complete lack of sleep. I had used the Pramipexole only about 1 - 2 times a week and interspersed it with Zopiclone. However as I was also taking Temgesic then the doctor stopped the Zopiclone and consequently I started taking Pramipexole every night. I at least then, I got a reasonable amount of sleep. Then my consultant decided to get me on to Melatonin with a view to reducing and eliminating the Pramipexole. Hence I'm slowly reducing and am down to half a tablet (the 0.18mg ones). It takes time...

I am still on my journey to stop Prami, now down to half a .088 a night, I got about 5 or 6 nights of bad RLS, but managed it through and now settled, but also taking Gabapentin at 150mg, I did take the advice and used some codeine tablets for the bad nights. So going to drop the final Prami dose next week and with a few hot/cold showers, massage gun and codeine hopefully will be clear of it. Will let you know 👍

week off Prami now - been a bumpy journey with some tough nights but finally RLS is settling, moved Pregablin up to 300mg and RLS lasting less each night. Moods now much more mellow and feel quite relieved to say goodbye to Pramipexole, thanks to all the help here

I was also on Pramipexole for a while and it worked perfectly for me, no need for augmentation, but I always used it sparingly, only used it when needed. I'm completely of it now and experienced no withdrawal symptoms. However I did up my daily walks and I suppose that helped a lot. If you expect withdrawal symptoms based on other people's comments u will experience it cause you expect to feel it.Clear your mind and don't focus on it.
