I believe that you've consulted a sleep doctor and a neurologist about RLS, and presumably are looking for a more knowledgeable one?
Pending a personal recommendation to a neurologist from a forum member, the RLS Foundation unfortunately lists zero RLS health care providers in NM, but six in AZ and one in CO (see link: note - if you use this to search by state you can them click on the practitioner's name and usually get the institution at which they work and the street address as well as the phone number ):
rls.org/treatment/find-a-he...
(Again unfortunately, the nearest RLS Quality Care Centers appear to be a long way away, in San Diego or Houston):
rls.org/treatment/quality-c...
Hopefully someone will come forward with a closer personal recommendation!
Thank you Chris, I feel like I live in a third world country. Where do you live?
Do you know who I could contact to let them know about the lack of treatment in this state?
God bless you, my friend, and may He grant you favor.
This is not to say that there aren't any helpful neurologists in NM - only that no one has contacted the Foundation saying that they have "interest and knowledge in the treatment RLS" and no one has recommended anyone.
I hope that you find someone!
(I live near Oxford in England)

Thank you Sue, as always you are awesome. One day, I will give instead of taking so much. (I hope). Do you have any recommendations on any of the doctors?
I feel like I live in a third world country, can’t even get a decent PCP. Dr Rick’s, Neurosurgeon in Albuquerque, zzz did my first back surgery and I was scheduled on Jan. 6 for the second one. I decided to cancel to see if Barrow’s in Phoenix would offer a less invasive surgery. I am waiting for a call from them. I had contacted them before my first surgery and was told that if I didn’t have the surgery that I would get paralyzed and then die. My point is if I end up at Barrow’s I could also see one of the docs you recommended. I’m hoping to have one doc for RLS and also be my primary. Again, thank you. If there is anything I can do for you, please let me know. My past experience is in criminal law, so if you commit a crime let me know, just kidding.
God bless you, my friend, and may He grant you favor.
I don't have any recommendations on any of the doctors. The problem with an out of state doctor is they probably can't prescribe medicine out of state but they could tell an in state doctor that that is what you need. Good luck on your surgery. When you have your surgery, tell yell your doctors and anesthesiologists about your RLS and its symptoms and that you need your medicines and and ask if there will be any drug interactions from what they will give you. Also talk with the patient representative ahead of time. Tell them not to give you any sedating antihistamines or sedating anti-nausea medications. Instead insist they use Zofran for anti-nausea. You can download the Medical Alert Card that you can show your doctors, that tells them about the condition and what will happen after surgery and what medicines to avoid at rlshelp.org/ although you will need to join the RLS foundation. A membership is $40, but they have some good information on it and you get their monthly magazine. However the safe antidepressants listed on medical alert card are not antidepressants: Lamotrigine, Carbamazepine, Oxcarbazepine.
