does anyone know if the above drugs taken for prostate and Atrial fibrillation could be causing my rls to be so bad?

biosoprolol and Apixaban
I cannot tell you much about the beta-blocker. I was on propranolol but could not take it at all. It made my heart rate too slow, I lost about a third of my hair and seemed to get restlessness all over with it after only four days.
I do, however, take rivaroxaban (Xarelto) which is one of the newer blood thinners like Apixaban. It does not seem to make restless legs worse. I have been taking it for about two years. Good Wishes in getting this sorted.
Apixaban is fine. Biosoprolol may or may not be fine. My notes say it increases PLMD but may not make RLS worse, although beta blockers in general tend to do so. Propranolol (Inderal, Hemangeol,InnoPran) seems safe and there is Isosorbide Mononitrate (Monoket, Imdur) which is not a beta blocker nor calcium channel blocker. And then there are the ace inhibitors such as Zestril (Lisinopril, Qbrelis, Prinivil) and Perindopril (Coversyl). Other possibilities are: Clonidine (Catapres) an Alpha-2-Agonist used to treat high blood pressure which may help RLS, which also treats insomnia and ADHD (not a stimulant) and may help RLS, tenex (Guanfacine, Intuniv) treats ADHD and high blood pressure, prazosin (Minipress) - alpha-adrenergic blocker that treats high blood pressure; useful in managing sleep-related problems caused by PTSD and Tadalafil a vasodilator that treats erectile dysfunction, enlarged prostate, and high blood pressure and in one study completely eliminated RLS. Discuss these with your doctor.
many thanks sue for your detailed reply I have been taking biosoprolol for many years to treat my irregular heart beat and it as worked really well which is why I am reluctant to change things but if my memory is correct I think my rls started around the same time that I began taking this beta blocker. I will print off your notes if you don’t mind and discuss them with my gp
hi Sue- you must have the largest reference library on RLS on the planet. We had a recent discussion about Ropinirole and Venlafaxine (the former is definitely working better now I’ve stopped the latter). On this aspect I can only make a minor comment- bisoprolol which I take doesn’t seem to affect my RLS- propranolol which I took for years, did, but mostly in a minor way. The worst negative effects were the anti depressants.
How you comment on RLS so well is amazing, when there are as many effects, positive and negative, on us, as there are people with RLS. Thank you.
