Good afternoon, dc49.

Respectfully, I have not before heard the term "vein reflux," and it is not clear to me if you are asking whether the removal of varicose veins may contribute to RLS discomfort or whether the removal of varicose veins may relieve RLS discomfort. If you are asking whether varicose veins may contribute to RLS discomfort and whether their removal may relieve RLS discomfort, I may be able to offer some insights pending replies by others.

I am not a health care provider. But if I understand your question correctly, my answer is "Yes. Based upon my personal experience and understanding, varicose veins may contribute to RLS; and it is thought that the removal of varicose veins may relieve RLS."

About 30 years ago, I first consulted with health care providers to attain relief for my RLS suffering. In time, I visited health care providers in different specialties: general practice; orthopedic surgery; internal medicine; cardiology; and ultimately neurology. One doctor of internal medicine pronounced that the cause of my RLS was "varicese." However, my follow-up visit with another internist at the same medical group pronounced that the initial diagnose was incorrect as I did not have varicose veins in the first place. To be sure, this was before a consensus de jure was reached on the supposed neurological basis for RLS.

Fast forward to today: My quick Internet search under the combined terms "RLS varicose veins" yielded many results. The summary descriptions of various health care providers suggested the existence of a link between RLS and varicose veins; i.e., that varicose veins might contribute to RLS; and that medical treatment for varicose veins may relieve RLS.

Significantly, however, I did not find conspicuous mention of RLS within the discussion of varicose veins on the website of one mainstream organization with recognized expertise on RLS. See, e.g., mayoclinic.org/diseases-con... Nor did I find mention of varicose veins on that organization's website discussion of RLS. See, e.g., mayoclinic.org/diseases-con...

Hope this helps. Be well.

varicose vein is not related to RLS at all, as RLS is a neurological disease

In an effort to relieve my RLS symptoms I tried vein ablation. It was painful, expensive and did not affect my RLS at all.
