Restless is not painful, it's an urge to keep moving, legs jump and junk impossible to sit or lie
Down. you have no choice but To keep moving. My longest walkabout was from 6.30pm until 6 30am following morning. What is working for me now is tto Alternate between pramipexole and ropinerole. Suffered with RLS for 57 Years. Got worse with age. When I first had RLS doctors never heard of it. Had every kind of test. Now it's recognised still no answers and taking drugs prescribed for other reasons. Good luck.

Morning Cumoneileen. I get RLS that comes and goes for no apparent reason. Like many others, I find a combination of three actions help:
1) Exercise directly before bed. I walk a half mile route with the dog.
2) Standard gym leg stretch exercises last thing before getting into bed.
3) Using a heat blanket over my left hip on a moderate setting for an hour.
GP, who actually listens (!), has prescribed pramipexole 0.26mg slow release. Great help but I have discussed my fear of augmentation with him. He says his experience is that pramipexole in these small dosages rarely causes problems. We will wait and see!
I printed off the Mayo Clinic Algorithm paper for him, which he says he will read.
