Hello everyone. I’ve had some great advice on here regarding iron and how to slowly get off DAs (for my elderly mum). I’m very grateful and will be putting everything into practice.
What I’ve noticed is that her appetite has almost slowed to stop and wondered if this is (yet another) symptom of the DAs or if we need to also investigate this? Has anyone else experienced it ?
I also just found out she’s on an opioid for her arthritis so we really are layering up with the drugs 😞
Thanks !

She should definitely see her doctor. It is possible that the appetite loss is a result of the DAs, although that is not a common side effect, but even if it is, she should see her doctor.
I’ve been on opioids for 5yrs due to a back injury and they have taken away my appetite.I eat like a child now but am careful to make sure what I eat is healthy.
Same here. I've been on 10 mg Methadone for over a year now due to very bad reactions to Gabapentin. During the first 10 months I lost 65 pound and had little to no appetite. As I was very over weight it was a blessing and My doctor and I monitored my vitals. Since then my weight has stabilized and my appetite returned although I eat considerably less than before. Downside is I have depression and off and on spells of lethargy for which I take Welbutrin. So it was a mixed blessing.
