good morning.

ill try keep this short.

For the past 18 months I been taking oramorph . 500mls per week.

took it due to an accident. I'm at the time where I don't want to take this poison anymore.I find myself patiently waiting for prescription day because I took to much again and run out.

I went to see a drug recovery service on Friday. They have accepted me on to a treatment program.

I have to go the chemist tomorrow morning to start on 2mg of buprenorphine.

i took my last dose of oramorph yesterday afternoon,as Dr said I need to be feeling some sort of withdrawal when I start taking buprenorphine.

My worry and questions are. I have a 2 year old little girl I'm a single mum.

how are my withdrawals going to be taking buprenorphine instead of the oramorph. Also it's her birthday on Tuesday (day 2)of treatment. Am I going to be poorly on her birthday.

im concerned I'm going to be really poorly and not be able care for my children.i. Tried to go cold turkey a few months ago wow absolute torture . After days 3 I couldn't handle it anymore and resumed taking oramorph

hope this makes sense xxx

Oh you poor darling! Feeling for you in all this. Do you have anyone to help you with the children during this time? You need some support to help you through this! I think the reason the doctor wants you to have withdrawal symptoms prior to taking buprenorphine is to enable your body to respond better..so hopefully once you start it, it won’t be as horrid as the cold turkey.

If you can get help from someone with the kids even for some of the time it will be best for all of you. Hopefully someone more knowledgeable about these drugs will give you some advice. Just letting you know you are cared about. I will pray for hope and help for you! Xx

Good morning, thank you so much for your kind words. I do have a support system but unfortunately my daughter's daddy is a double amputee (legs) so unfortunately he isn't in situation to take baby for a few days. I know people will be calling in on me to make sure I'm doing ok. I run my own business so Im taking 2 weeks off in the hope all will be well for my return. I've never taken street drugs in my life and feel stupid that I've ended up in the situation, addicted to poison...My mind isn't addicted to it, but my body on the other hand is very reliant on it.

I know I can do this and I will do this.

Xxx

Good evening, thank you so much for thinking about me. Maybe your the reason that I'm feeling ok. I'm not feeling great but ok is fine for now. I'm currently on day 4 due to drs error. I've been trying to keep busy. It's more breaking the cycle that's the biggest problem. Today I've cleaned my house top to bottom,, changed all the beds and cooked a Sunday roast so I'm happy at my progress. Take care xxx

Wishing you strength getting through this. Hopefully the Buprenorphine you have been given will start to work quickly to stop the worst of the morphine withdrawals. You're doing the right thing and the drug recovery service will monitor and help you through this.

Well done for seeking help when you did.
