Any experience with Delta 8? Anyone?
Delta 8: Any experience with Delta... - Restless Legs Syn...
Delta 8
I have been using Delta 8 THC for a year and have found it useful to vape in the evening when I start feeling restlessness coming on. For me it has a short term effect that gives some relief if restlessness is not too bad. I’ve also used the gummies but it takes too long to work once restlessness begins and I’m still trying to figure out if it prevents the restlessness from coming on if I take it before feeling restless. This is a work in progress.
Is your RLS under control?
My RLS is never completely under control even with Oxycodone in the evening and bedtime. It’s a work in progress. I just recently realized after reading some of the postings on this site that high oxylate foods may be triggering restless episodes in the afternoon and evening.
Delta 8 is illegal in my state so my experience is limited. I’ve tried it in gummies and it just seems stronger to me, which isn’t really what I’m going for.
Delta 8 was just declared illegal in my state, but I got Delta 9 before it was illegal. Haven't tried it yet.
Is your RLS under control?
For the most part. It’s all relative. It may be time to pull out the diary and really dial things in once again. But I’m definitely doing well over all, thanks to this site. How are your symptoms?
Mine are completely controlled by gabapentin. Have you had your ferritin checked?
That’s great to hear. I hope you continue to control it for a very long time. Yes, I’ve had my ferritin checked several times. It’s low for people with RLS but well within normal for normal folks. Iron supplements worked at first (meaning the first 2 times I took them) but now my symptoms are consistently worse on the nights I take iron. I’m sure it’s coincidental, which is why I need to pull out the diary and see what else I’m doing those nights/days to aggravate things.
Yes. I am sure that is coincidental. I assume you are taking your iron tablets with 100 mg of Vitamin C or some orange juice as that improves absorption and at least 2 hours after any food or coffee. What medicines and OTC supplements are you taking?
Yes, I always take the iron on an empty stomach with Vit C. Every other night. Other than that I don’t take any supplements with regularity. I try to take the few other supplements I have at least once a week or every other week (but maybe it’s more like once a month, lol) in the morning. My only other medicines are gabapentin nightly (100 mg) and 5 mg indica THC in a gummy.
100 mg of gabapentin is an extremely low amount. The usual beginning amount is 300 mg. You might want to increase it by 100 mg every couple of days until you find an amount that completely controls your RLS symptoms not just for the most part.
Do you take any melatonin?
You know, I just started taking melatonin when my insomnia acts up. I had shied away from it because many on this site said it could aggravate RLS, but for me it does not bug my RLS and it definitely helps me sleep. I love it! Do you take melatonin? And if so, do you find it makes your RLS worse?
If you’re taking more than a crumb of melatonin (.25) then nothing you do or take for the RLS will work. I took 1.0 and it turned my RLS into the devil incarnate. The RLS was in my eyeballs. I saw a recent post where u said u take 2.5 mg of the melatonin. Can’t believe you’re even alive to speak of it.
Oh my gosh. That’s terrible melatonin made you feel that way! I actually have 5mg in my medicine cabinet now but haven’t needed more than the 2.5. I hadn’t slept much for 3 days due to a combination of RLS/PLMS and insomnia so I took melatonin last night (along with the gabapentin and 5 mg THC) and slept like a dream. I don’t think melatonin helps my RLS at all but so far I have no indication it hurts it either. It has been a tremendous help when I’m suffering from both insomnia and RLS!! Sorry it can’t do the same for you.
Yeah my husband had a terrible experience with melatonin.
The vast majority of people with RLS will not be able to tolerate Melatonin. It elevates serotonin in the brain I believe which competes with the release of dopamine. Something like that. Similar to anti-depressants.
It really helps me. It’s not perfect, but it greatly reduces the pain I feel that makes my legs jump. I’m still trying to stay out what’s causing the RLS, but at least the delta 8 lets me Sleep at night. Fwiw, I make a tincture so it lasts longer.
