Sleepyhead program and RSL

Hello I am considering going on the new online Sleepyhead program for insomnia; I have been an insomniac and have had RLS for about 40 years - obviously RLS makes it impossible to sleep but even at times I do not get RLS I am still an insomniac. They claim that dealing with the insomnia improves the RLS - This program has a high success rate in curing insomnia - has anyone tried it?

No. Sounds interesting. But like you alot of us suffer insomnia even when symptoms are under control. Oftentimes its a side effect of medication, but more often than not it's just hardwired sleeping habits that were developed during the early untreated phase of the RLS. I know I myself from puberty on broke every positive sleep rule out their in order to find some relief that worked for me. Those bad habits stick with you. They are difficult to change because they were developed under great duress and fear of RLS induced sleepless nights.

Good plan. Hope it works out. Take your time as it most likely will take some time. And don't expect wonders, hopefully just longer periods and more restful sleep.

It's Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) and can be a solution for insomnia. I couldn't find any pricing on the website - but it looks very good.

the cost is £97 a month - they say 2 months is maximum you need; if you go on one of their webinar it is reduced to £47 per month which is a very good deal. They then do a maintenance online program at £9.99 a month; you can stop and restart at any point. Will try it once I get back from holiday. This one is with Stephanie Romiszewski who is the most experienced and does lots of work with the NHS -best to go with her program as she is most experienced and lots of people will jump on that bandwagon!

It appears that the Sleepyhead program is cognitive based therapy which is the generally recommended path for insomnia. I participated in a 6 week (1 hr/week) CBT program last fall. It is indeed helpful but difficult for me. It's hard to rewire thought and sleep patterns after several decades.
