Finally had a telephone consultation with a neurologist and she has suggested clonazopan ( which I’m worried might be a nuclear option) and tramadol just waiting for the script to land at mr GPs

Clonazepam can help you sleep, but it has a long half life and make make you sleepy the next day. There are other benzodiazepams that have shorter half- lifes it that is the case for you. The tramadol should definitely help.

My thoughts exactly I’m going to see if my GP will change it for something with a shorter half life as I’m a sparky and can’t afford the hangover next day !!

Clonazepam has a half-life of 40 hours. Temazepam reaches peak plasma level in 3 hours and has a half-life of 10 - 15 hours. Eszopiclone (Lunesta) a nonbenzodiazepine has a half-life of 6 h and peak plasma level of 1 to 1.6 hours. Xanex (Alprazolam) has half-life of 11 hours, peak plasma 1 to 2 hours.

I tried that but it was bad as my head wanted to sleep and the legs wanted to walk. Bad combination for me . Hope it works for you
