The new algorithm from the Mayo Clinic is now available. It will be useful to print off and send to our GPs and neurologists.

New Algorithm for treatment of RLS from the Mayo Clinic
Thanks so much for this link. This surely represents a major step forward in terms of recognition of the optimal treatment options for rls.
Finally! Thanks for posting Joolsg.
Hi Jools. I’m really rubbish with technology but whenever I click on any link on health unlocked I always get “400 bad request” and it bumps me off the site and I can never access the information.
It’s seriously driving me up the wall. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I’ve got a brand new phone and it’s made no difference whatsoever.
Is there another way that I can read about it? Something I can type in?
I’m sorry to ask but I’d really really like to be able to read and educate myself.
I hope you’re well.
I was sent the info by email from rls.org, the US RLS foundation. If you use a laptop or phone, try searching for "mayo clinic new algorithm for treatment of RLS 2021".
Your phone/laptop will then show the website.
Have you tried clearing all browsing history on your phone before clicking the link? I switched from iPhone to Samsung and I have to always clear previous searches or I get weird error messages.
Yay!!!
Thanks Jools, I googled what you said and it came up.
It looks really interesting, thanks so much for helping me, I’m grateful.
I’ve got an iPhone 12 Pro Max and I don’t know how to clear previous searches.
I’m seriously an idiot when it comes to this but I have to find a way to read the links as it is doing my head in!!!
Also try clearing caches for all apps. They tend to clog up the system .
Clearing past history is simple on the iPhone. Go to Settings, scroll down to find Safari Browser in the list of apps (assuming you are using Safari) and press to go into Safari settings. Scroll down again almost to the bottom and you will find "Clear History and Website Data" in blue. Select this to clear history.
Thank you Munroist. 🙏🙏🙏It’s embarrassing how incompetent I am. I did exactly what you said. It hasn’t made any difference though. I still just get the error message.
I’ll try to get HU on my iPad. Maybe that will be easier but it’s old so it might not download the app.
Once again, thanks. I’ll get there in the end
Thanks, Jools. Good read! If we could get it onto a bullet pointed A4 sheet to give in to our GPs, -- now that would be something!!A lot to ponder.
🧐Grrrrrrrrrr!!! I’m jealous of Madlegs… I bet it was a good read too 😋
This is fantastic. And a great summary for uninformed medical practitioners. Thanks for posting Jools!
Thanks
I doubt whether GPS will see or read it. Depending on your relationship with your GP you might take a copy when you see him/her next and encourage him/her to read it.
Many thanks for posting, Joolsg. Really helpful.
Cheers Jools.x
Thanks Jools. At first glance this looks well worth the wait!! It's worth noting that clicking on the pdf icon at the top of the page gives a much more coherent and printable document. All the best
Thanks - awesome information all in one place!
Thanks Jools, great stuff! X
Exactly. And that's why we need to send off the letters and emails to get RLS included in the curriculum. That statement in the algorithm assumes that most doctors know at least the basics of RLS. As we know from the RCGPs, the ABN, HEE etc, it's not even taught at all.
I found it interesting that it said "Most RLS patients require 1200 to 1800 mg of gabapentin daily"
Catching up a bit, thanks Jools . I will also post this to some other groups.
Thank you Joolsg, I have downloaded it.
