Has anyone had what feels like abdominal rls and major stress then given yourself a major enema and the rls in the abdomin seems to ease. I am also months from receiving a kidney transplant and take major meds to keep my kidney functioning.

Hi ESRDRLS:

My legs, for about 1.5 hours jerk every 16 or 22 secs exactly - uncanny precision. Sometimes my abdomen will join in. Rarely it it is just my abdomen. Occassionally a spot on my right foot has the "crawling ants" that are often written about.

The jerking abdomen is the worst because it causes my body to convulse - violently sometimes.

I have tried magnesium - no effect. Pramipexole - worked but I got off it given the augmentation and addiction/withdrawal problems I read about often on this forum. It was also doing somethin to my head. Warm milk and toast seemed to help a bit.

300 mg of gabapentin once before bed is almost allways working. When it is not, I experience only about 3-4 jerks that are relativly minor. I've been on it nine months and if I could figure out an alternative I'd leave it. Given what others are taking I should not complain, but I want to avoid taking drugs, if possible.

I don't know about the effect of the enema. My experience is that once I am up and moving around all my symptoms disappear. Simply going to the washroom is enough to stop it for a while. Also, my R L/A S also tends to happen in the middle of the night then disappear.

Good luck with your kidney.
