After being mainly stable and symptom free of RLS for many, many months, my GP has hinted he wants to take me off Lyrica. He knows little about the condition of RLS, nor does he appear to be interested in learning about it despite having a lot of his patients with the condition. Could some kind person direct me to the latest research on RLS that mentions Lyrica, I will print it out and present it to my GP when he mentions taking me off it again. Thank you

Seeking information about treatment with Pregabalin/Lyrica
Heres' a few links you may find helpful. They all clearly show that pregabalin IS used for RLS.
Some demonstrate its advantages over dopamine agonists such as pramipexole.

Hope it helps
Thank you so much for the information. I am annoyed my GP has so little knowledge of this and is not interested in understanding. I will print out the information you have sent and give it to him.
I am on sifrol for rls. I had to take lyrica after hip replacement because I had nerve pain in my foot. I was told lyrica was for nerve pain and sifrol for muscle pain which I believe is a rls symptom. I came off lyrica as i put on 8 kgs in 6 weeks and the nerve pain in my foot has cleared up.
You could try asking him WHY he wants to take you off a drug that is obviously helping??? And what does he suggest that will help as much?
Lyrica is a major drug of misuse/abuse here, if it is prescribed to a patient in hospital it has to be delivered to the patients bed by two registered nurses, plus it has value on the black market. I think he may be under pressure from something or someone higher than him, he said he had taken a lot of his patients off Lyrica. He did not offer any alternative, he knows I will not take Sifrol again after having two very bad augmentation episodes in the past. He minimises the RLS symptoms on my comfort as he does not appear to be interested in the least in the condition. I have printed out a lot of information I have received from members of this forum which I will present to my GP next time I see him.
