Wellbutrin, I believe is not available in the UK, however it may be available under its generic name i.e. buproprion.

Unfortunately, I believe it's only prescribed by a specialist and only after two other antidepressants have failed. You could ask your GP though.

The other antidepressant reputed to be safe for RLS is Trazodone. I'm not sure how effective this is however for depression.

Trazodone is a bad antidepressant, but it is a good sedative. As it is not a selective serotonin inhibitor, it does not worsen RLS, and it can be useful to induce sleep. It has the advantage of not producing dependence, although the doses must be increased with the time of use. But I've been taking it for many years to sleep, I'm only on 150 mg per night.

Avoid Fluoxetine! It's an SSRI antidepressant that does little to nothing for a physical neurological illness that includes RLS, and it's addictive. I was put on a high dose of the stuff when my condition, ME or fibromyalgia with chronic fatigue was still being dismissed as a psychosomatic illness and depression. When I realized that I was getting no benefit from it, I tried to stop it. The withdrawal symptoms were horrific. It took two years of very careful reduction before I was free of it.

I take a high dose of magnesium, which has made all the difference to my RLS. I used to have muscle spasms in my jaw too, which caused my jaw to shoot forward and catch my top teeth with my bottom teeth. All of my front teeth are chipped and cracked, as a result. I would even wake in the night with chips of tooth enamel on my tongue, when my jaw muscles spasmed in my sleep. That's much better, too.

The anti depressants that effect the serotonin will send the rls through the roof. I know welbutrin works on the dopamine. I was in a nut house and thenurses thought it was there job to take me off of my narcotics. a shrink gave

me a drug that sent my legs through the roof. I have an ems machine that seems to help alot it sends a high dose of electricity through the roof for seconds and then stops. It seems to help...I started using it ...I am starting

to wonder if rls may be aggravated by plant phasities ( spelt wrong),

of course I am on a ton of other stuff. But the ems treatment helped a lot.

and got rid the of plantar phasitist.
