I'm taking Gabapentin and have just been prescribed citalopram which I've been taking for about 2 months. I've noticed my rls returning . Has anyone noticed rls becoming worse when taking citalopram?

Hi, sadly citalopram is known to aggravate RLS. Interestingly I took it when my RLS was very intermittent and it didn’t affect me at all......

If you google antidepressants and RLS you should find the names of some that shouldn’t affect your RLS (or some kind person here will post a link! 😊)

All the best

Yes because all anti depressants cause or worsen RLS ( except Trazodone or Wellbutrin). Stop taking it as you’ve only been on it a short time.

Forgot to ask why the citalopram was prescribed. Are you suffering depression or anxiety or did the GP think it would help with sleep?

Anxiety & depression are very common during withdrawal from pramipexole & Ropinirole- especially if you’ve been on them a long time. Diazepam is better for anxiety & it also helps RLS. Glad to hear you’re feeling better.

I've been taking citalopram for four years @ .25mg. I have had very good results BUT the max dosage is .75mg. Don't know where to after that limit is reached. I don't't use any other meds for RSL

Sorry Mumswell. Forget my last message. I use Sifrol for RSL and citalopram for depression. I really haven't noticed any worsening of my RSL due to the anti - d.
