How far ahead of bedtime do you take gabapentin so that it is fully effective when you do go to bed but doesn't wear off during the night?

I the two CAPSULES with 2 low dose ropinrole and 1 tramadol I take ropinrole before noon and evening meals.Bed time 10:00 PM, Jerks 2 feet high if I miss this routine on for (2 years with out augmentation) Some need to look at combinations of low doses( pain, antiseizure, nerve repair, RLS) Augmentation comes when you do not have a mix. but what d0 I know. I am only 91 Yrs. old?

I am just going through timing adjustments at the moment. I take 2x50mg Tramadol and 3x400mg Gabapentin per day which used to be totally effective but has become less so. I get RLS in arms and legs in an evening and often up 3 times a night and fall asleep if I sit down in an afternoon or evening. On a number of occasions I have made a timing adjustment and it upsets things for a few days but settles down to an improvement (3 months of undisturbed nights a year ago!).

I was taking 2020:

Gaba 800mg 6.00pm, 400mg 7.30pm

Tramadol 100mg 9.00pm

Just changed to

Gaba 400mg 7.00pm, 800mg 8.30pm

Tramadol 50mg 9.00, 50mg 10.00pm

A minor change but I am disturbed up till 1.00am and then SLEEP until 8.30am. Bliss.

Not fully settled I’m sure but playing with timing of doses can be effective.

Anybody any advice on timings and dosage?

I take 2 gabapentine at 9:00PM 1 tramadol, and two low dose Ropinrole at .5mg. Be aware US and British are different in Gabapentin. US. is for nerve repair shingles, seizures in CAPSULE form 300m. British are in pill form and may be large doses 1200mg for RLS I find the combination of lower doses of meds works for me. But I take 3 time a day with roperole (day time jerks)and gabepentine at 9;00PM.

Hi, I am taking 900 mg approx 1 hour before bedtime. I am currently taking 1mg Ropinirole and am dropping by .25 evert two weeks as I leave Ropinirole behind. The doctor told me I could up the Gab by 300 mg if I begin to have problems - so far I am fine with 900 the one hour before bed and am able to get 7 - 9 hours of sleep only interrupted by the need to make restroom visits - I'm a 71 year old male so those visits have simply increased over time just a result of getting old ;>))

I'm 80 so know exactly what you mean about bathroom visits at night. I got a ph testing kit, which is pretty cheap on Amazon and measured the phH of my urine. It was 5.5. Then I started taking potassium citrate and now it is 7.5 and my bathroom visits have decreased.

Are you taking the 3 capsules in 24 hours? If so you simply divide your day into 3 sections. The reason for the 3 separate times is to keep the medication in your blood stream.I take my final pill of the day 2 hours before I want to go to bed.
