Hi I’m an long time user of your site. I forget my name I think it was crochetnanny.

But I wanted to share something I had forgotten but remembered while talking to a friend. Many years ago I was taking a cholesterols med. simvastatin or Zocor. I experienced unbearable muscle pain weakness confusion and restless legs. Terrible side effects. My doctor put me on requip which caused me to have almost a narcolepsy effect. Sudden falling asleep, causing a car accident while driving. My doctor never did figure out what was wrong with me. I stopped taking zocor with total relief from all symptoms. The rls restarted again when I started taking an antidepressant after the death of my daughter. I stopped all anti depressants. eventually after the gradual reduction of the meds due to terrible withdrawal. As with many on this site mY Dr was of little help with all of this, not believing the severity of the RLS. Now I do quite well limiting my coffee, chocolate any caffeine (soda)and late night eating. Just wanted to share this as I actually had to (doctor) myself because of little understand of the medical field.

I'm sorry that you went through all that. And glad you are ok now.It is well known that statins and certain antidepressants cause RLS symptoms to worsen.Sadly many doctors aren't aware of this.

Good luck. X

I can only take Requip at night because it does cause me to fall asleep, even on low doses. I am going to talk to a neurologist about other medication since reading this forum.
