I have had RLS for 45 years but I get it only in the evening but since starting Ropinirol I have it in the afternoon.I have been taking 2mg of Ropinirol but have reduced to 1.5 mg.i have reduced by 0.25 fortnightly,as advised on here.i take 0.5mg at 4 pm and 1 mg at 10 pm.i haven’t had any problems,as yet,but am wondering what to expect.i don’t want to take another medication for RLS but am planning on taking a sleeping tablet .i am hoping that my R L S will return to baseline.I take magnesium and iron.Any advice would be welcome.

It sounds as though you are suffering augmentation due to the ropinirole in which case, reducing it is the right thing to do.

Depending on how long you've been taking the ropinirole, once you've stopped your symptoms may return to what you remember them being like before you started on the ropinirole. They may be worse a) since the ropinirole may have caused some damage and b) because time has elapsed. You'll just have to see.

Taking a sleeping tablet may help whilst withdrawing form ropinirole, but it's not a good long term option. It might end up being more of a problem than the ropinirole.

Magnesium and iron sounds good.

I believe ropinerol caused me permanent damage.

It should either work or not. Watch out for personality changes.

I can't stress enough how nasty dopamine agonist drugs are for RLS. Augmentation is real, just ask in any forum.

I hope you find relief soon.
