I am her support bubble & have filled this survey on her behalf. She commenced amytriptyline 10mgs 2weeks ago due to her anxiety which I discussed with her & has since slept through each night. She is so much improved & has not had any burning legs since. What remains to be seen is if the burning legs return when she is gradually taken off the medication if she is then unable to sleep . She hates taking medication & is not on any other. It seems that the degree of anxiety she was experiencing contributed to the problem . IAPT was contacted & a therapist rings her weekly.

Thanks for the report.Very interesting, since Amitriptyline tends to antagonise RLS for 95,/%of people.
I suspect that she may not have had RLS. The burning sensation sounds more like a neuropathic issue.
I'm so glad she has relief, which, of course, is the main thing.!
Long may it work for her.
Thanks Madlegs actually 2of you said it didn't sound like RLS & the neurologist she saw privately said it is definitely not RLS & neither does she have the signs of neuropathy. I am thinking the anxiety triggered all this . Will let you know if it returns.
Good news that the amitriptyline has worked.
As Madlegs says, it sounds as if your sister's symptoms are either neuropathic or anxiety related.
Thanks Manerva I believe you were not convinced it was RLS either. Thankyou for your helpful comments when I first joined on her behalf. Time will tell .
