Hi - I've just started taking Gabapentin 300m one per night.

My RLS has calmed down early evening but rises with avengeance usually between 1.00am and 3.00am. then it calms down again.

Is this normal or do you think the tablets need a few weeks to kick in. I was on Pramipexole but due to augmentation, I weaned myself off them.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Gabapentin takes 3 - 4 weeks to start working.

300mg is only the starting dose and will be insufficient. It needs to be titrated up in steps of 300mg.

An average effective dose is 900mg, but it can be increased further.

Thank you so much - very helpful! Will gradually increase and see how I get on.

Hi, I used to get that too, so I followed the advice on here and changed the way I took it. I'd take two thirds of my dose about two hours before bedtime, then one third at bedtime. That worked better and I had less breakthroughs. Good luck.

Thank you - will try different options, so pleased I came off the Pramipexole!

300 mg is a very low dose. I take 600 mg per night and it works through the night.
