Hi,I have been trying to keep a diary of what I'm eating to find out if an intolerance may be what triggers my rls.Im aware that some foods such as gluten might do this,I was going crazy last week but not so bad this week, thought if I did go and get a complete food intolerance test done then I could rule out food as being the fault.

It will interesting to see how avoiding intolerant food helps. There is no suggestion that immune response impacts RLS, but inflammation from that may.

There are accounts of diet changes being more successful. Low oxalate, keto and FODMAP is referred to the most. If you are really committed a week of no oxalate, then another of no carbs, then no meat would give you a good idea.

Oh dear I'm showing my ignorance now, had to look up these things, never heard of Oxalate did hear of the others, I really do think any suggestions that others have tried are worth trying so I will find out more, thanks

I think a lot of folk feel like certain foods trigger their RLS though it’s hard to pinpoint which & it’s often more than 1 thing. I think mine is worse after sugar, vanilla, yeast extract, bananas to name a few. But I don’t think these would show up as actual intolerances.

A food diary would be better I think.

I think it’s Raffs on this site who is especially knowledgable about the food issues.

It is also for some ridiculous reason in me far easier to recognise certain foods could be an issue than it is to make youself avoid them!

Look out for triggering medicines as well. There is a list on this site somewhere

Hi, I agree, I have to admit, when my rls is driving me insane I start writing down what I'm eating, then when it eases off I don't keep writing 😊Im on blood pressure and cholesterol tablets, I'm aware they can exaserbate rls. I'm gonna try and figure out what to eat and what not to eat, start my diary again 😊
