Can anyone recommend an anxiety medication that won't aggravate RLS? I am seeing my family doctor next week and I don't want him to accidentally prescribe a medication that could aggravate my RLS. I know to avoid antihistamines, but some anxiety meds have antihistamines in them.

It's the antidepressants you need to watch for. You are correct about antihistamines setting off rls, but the others are bad all by themselves!
I know there are safer antidepressants to use. If you check out this site, you may find some help.
I do know not to use Amitriptyline .
Otherwise I'm sure someone will come to our rescue!🤔
Good luck.
I've just checked that site and can't find a search facility, which seems to be a major lack in such an organisation.
However, I used the search button here and came up with a conversation a few months ago , which may inform you.

Hope that is helpful.
Hi there. It’s the SSRI’s and SNRI’s you need to stay away from if I’m not mistaken. Wellbutrin and Buspirone are safe. I don’t believe you can get Wellbutrin if you are in the UK though. I really found a book called “Dare” by Barry McDonagh really helpful for my anxiety. It’s on Audible or you can buy the hard copy. I found it to be much more helpful that medications, but the Buspirone did help some. Gabapentin and Lyrica are both prescribed off brand for anxiety and depression as well. Best of luck 😊
No anti-anxiety meds are listed as causing problems, only anti-depressants.
I take St Johns Wort, not sure what effect, if any, it might gave on other meds.
Hi. Benzodiazepines are fine.In fact they are a treatment for RLS. I used to take diazepam for it and it really helped for a while.Good luck.
Thank you everyone for your input and your kindness! This is such a wonderful group of people who I consider my friends after having been a member of this forum for 3 years.
