Bad teeth?

Has everyone had their dental check ups? I started having an RLS flare up around 2 months ago, along with other symptoms like shortness of breath, headaches and hair loss. Finally this last week, my tooth swelled up where I’d had a root canal around 10 years ago. I went to the dentist who said I have a bad inflammation and infection between the roots and the tooth will have to be removed. She also said all my symptoms (including RLS) could be due to bacteria from the tooth making its way around the body. I’ve now started taking antibiotics and will have the little devil removed next week. After three days of AB I’m already breathing easier and the RLS seems to be abating somewhat so I’m excited to see what will happen after the removal. I’ll keep yous updated!!

That sounds nasty. But the good news is that the antibiotics appear to help. Once the inflammation is well over, you may consider asking your go for an iron panel blood test, including Ferritin. Not now, as the inflammation changes the blood iron values. Low iron or anaemia, may also cause similar symptoms. But not directly the tooth inflammation though.

I hope all is well again soon.

Alternatively, the reason why you've got bad teeth, rls, breathing problems could be your diet. I haven't been to the dentist since 2008, even for a check up! I've been cutting down my carbs for a long time and have eventually weeded out all the high GI foods and cut down on other carbs. I don't eat anything with added sugar, like biscuits and cakes, limit fruit, I don't buy bread but might have the occasional sandwich while I'm out. my main sources of carbs are brown rice or baked potatoes. My rls is gone and my breathing has improved. All without medication. And I sleep like a log!

Actually I already had a blood test before the antibiotics and it’s was all clear. As far as diet I eat very well, no processed food, only fish vegetables and fruit really. Like I said, Since taking the antibiotics all the symptoms have begun to clear up...

Emiloupi, I feel as though I could have written this post. You are not alone with these bizarre symptoms. I had the very same symptoms. I’m not sure about an RLs flare up, because that is a consistent nightmare. About a month ago I had shortness of breath, hair thinning, and bad headaches for about 3-4 weeks. Then the tooth issue began. It is a root canal that went bad.I will have that extracted on the first of a July. Very strange. Good luck to you. Keep us posted.

How strange! I’d be really interested to know if your symptoms clear up after extraction? I’ll update!

Get B12 blood test ......

Deficiency is more common than many realise. Symptoms are similar to yours described. I hope you are feeling g better soon. But as a precautionary ..... Get levels checked. Being deficient can cause neurological problems that can be hard to fix unless caught in time.

😊

Please read the previous answers; I already had a blood test which came back clear.

Bare in mind that clear by the doctors can still mean deficiency, Get your results and post them on here just to make sure. The GP will give you the blood test results 😊

I'm curious if you ever found out the RLS was related to tooth issues? I came on this site today to see if there was a link between my RLS and Sertaline use.But I just read your post and realized that I also have real soreness on both sides of a tooth when I floss. Plus I wake up with bad headaches and have been getting out of breath during tasks like showering/cleaning etc. Thanks
