Hi. I'm not new but this is my first post I normally just read others posts. Yesterday I actually found almost full relief in a weird way.. I have had rls almost my whole life being told they were growing pains to being put on gabapentin which I'm still on at almost 1200 mg a day or higher and sometimes illegally use narcs to help with my legs. BUT I HAVE FOUND SOMETHING that works for me but have no idea why or how recently I have been taking vistaril or hydroxazine pam. They are only 25 mg and is used in allot of correctional facilities to mitigate withdrawl. Which I feel rls is worse when going through any dependencies. As I've had spells of no rls in jail for 7 to 8 months and had nights I wanted to take a hammer to my knees and only a hot shower relieves them while in it not when I get out but big anyone can figure out why this vistaril is working 25mg 4 times. Day is working wonders I have fears of it stopping to work but as for now the relief and immediate sleep is all working wonders just pinning this here because if it even helps one person I'll be happy
Omg I've found something that is work... - Restless Legs Syn...
Omg I've found something that is working and continuing to work without much side effects except sleepiness which is good for rls sufferer
Thanks for posting.
It is a very strong antihistamine that is extremely effective for rls.
Not to be taken in pregnancy ( that's why it's on prescription.)
Cetrine ( cetrezine) is a safer alternative.
I'm not sure how much you'll need to take to get the same effect.
Cheers.
Don't understand. I thought antihistamines were a definite no-no for us
so did I, can anyone explain?
I also thought that I took benadryl one time and it made me feel extremely drowsy but my legs still wouldn't let me sleep it was miserable. But also I explained i take a low dose 4 times a day and I've found almost anything that helps with withdrawal helps with rls but I am not withdrawing so idk
I was hoping minervan if I spelled that right the community champ would chime in as he's extremely knowledgeable about this
Thank you very much the really is allot of support here
Some antihistamines are a major trigger for rls.
However, some of the newer 'strains' are ok. Cetrezine and Loretine (sp?) Are ok.
There should be a list of acceptable alternatives on this site.
Am I right in thinking that these new antihistamines are a viable treatment for RLS?
