Save me from myself

Is anybody else dancing like a deranged can can girl tonight?

I am tripping the light fantastic (not really) while drinking hot chocolate, eating rich tea biscuits and buying crap off wish to try to divert my attention from these appendages which seem to have a life of their own!

I am so sorry! That are the things we do as distraction often works. It maybe better stay away from buying crap? I always found a very mind engaging game effective. E.g. scrabble in English (which is not my first language) or chess. Sudokus may work similarly. Depends on what you like. I played 'against' my phone!

Incidentally, are you taking a dopamine agonist? If you are, discuss with your doctor as the 'buying crap' may indicate compulsive behaviour, a frequent and severe side effect of DA's.

One of my new year's resolutions was not to buy any more crap, I am coming off Pramipexole. I haven't managed it yet - I'm quite ashamed of myself and I didn't know why I was doing it, as it's not in my nature. I never thought the drugs could have that sort of effect.

It is not you, it is the meds. Once you're off the prami it should become better. Although it may take a while, like withdrawal, and some may remain. But hopefully not!

Thank you for that, you give me hope. A parcel just arrived from Wish with 3 pairs of pink gloves!!!!!!!! Did I really order those?

Continued....

Reading back your previous post I noticed you are (still?) on Rotigotine and most likely augmenting. Are you already on the path to replace the patch with a different type of medicine, e.g. gabapentin or pregabalin? And are you also reducing your Rotigotine dose? Please let us know. You may get some helpful suggestions and surely you will get moral support! I remember from the bad times that every so many days I simply crashed and got several hours of undisturbed sleep, not enough and not often enough, but it helped me survive. Hang in there!

Hi, We read about the distress that R.L. cause each day and the various ways of distraction. I enjoy doing puzzles and quizzes on line. I have also found online learning which is great. There is no pressure or exams. You choose from masses of subjects from gardening to autism, and if you have a special interest, it's an opportunity to find out more. And, It's all free. Just tap in free on line learning and go from there. I find its absorbing and is definitely distracting.

I was also leaping about the place last night. Had very little sleep. I can't do puzzles, or other things like that as I can't even sit down because of my flailing legs. I did sit outside at 2.30 am with a cuppa bouncing my legs trying not to spill my tea! At least it wasn't raining which was an added bonus!

I walked endless circles around my small back yard in my nightgown..my neighbor was wondering what I was doing at 1:30 am.

Lol! I hear ya 😂 I’m outside all the time in my nightgown. My neighbors must think I’m a peeping Tom 🥴

I also had a crazy night! Really bad RLS! Began in left leg, then left arm, back to left leg and eventually moving to right leg. All in about four hours. I got up around 2am and walked around. Tried laying down on the couch. I started 300mg Gabapentin last night, but it hadn’t started working yet. I put ice packs on my legs and woke up on the couch at 5am, so happy that daylight would soon be here 😊

I find knitting can help hold off RLS in my arms if the symptoms aren't too bad.
