Filmed myself sleeping...

...what I saw is sad (to me).

I decided to film myself sleeping. So far just one night which was what I would consider a 'good night'.

Here's what I found and I would love, love, LOVE your opinions on this:

* every 2 - 6ish minutes my toes moved/twitched for a few seconds - several seconds

* every 10 - 12ish minutes I fully moved, turned over

* several times when I moved it would take me time to 'settle' back into sleep, I would keep shifting, adjusting

I know that the camera didn't pick up my upper leg/thigh twitching which I think is probably happening at the same time my toes are moving.

On a bad night my arms will go up into the air.

I plan on continuing to film myself to see if I can catch a bad night of sleep. I still feel rubbish from a good night's rest.

Does this sound like PLMD or a normal amount of movement throughout the night to you?

Feel free to share your thoughts.

I love your profile pic, it made me properly giggle.

That's what I think but I'm always cautious. Since doing this I'm not as hard on myself, I don't think I'm sleeping properly and here's the proof!

Thank you. The picture is one I took personally of the Dublin zoo Orangutan dominant male.Looks so peaceful as he meditates the day away!

I hope you find peace and restful sleep. Tashi.

As far as I know, PLMD frequency is usually between 30-60 seconds, but maybe there could be special cases, like yours. I also filmed myself in the past and in case of me my leg twitched around every 40 seconds. The interesting part is that always just one of my legs is moving, but after a certain time it could alternate to my other leg.

Ah, I see. I didn't know that re PLMD. Yes, it's mostly in one foot and sometimes it's just my toes. They do a little wiggle and then stop and then do it again. It's quite repetitive.

We've got to go easier on ourselves about this. Sleep is so important and we're clearly not able to get sound, restorative rest.
