No joke

All jokes aside, if I have one more night like last night think I will lose the plot completely. The tremors in my hands are ridiculous, my legs are leaden and every time I try to sit down my legs kick off again.

I’m at the end of my rope. I know he means well but if my hubbysays ‘why don’t you just put your feet up for a bit’ I think I might throw something at him. There’s no fear of me hitting him coz my hands are so bad I’d probably just launch it through the window.

I feel hopeless and helpless and ridiculously vulnerable and if I sound like I’m wallowing in self pity that’s because I am.

Are you on any medication at the moment?

Non-medical interventions include Yoga stretches, hot baths/showers and LIGHT exercise (too much can make it worse)

You can always look into cannabis and Kratom if prescribed drugs are unavailable.

Am on loads of meds as rls is just one of the conditions I have. We’ve paired them back as much as is safe but no doubt if I didn’t have to take them my rls may not be as difficult to treat.

I wouldn’t use cannabis as my son’s drug habit began with cannabis and now he is on hard core drugs and I know that wouldn’t happen to me but even the thought of it upsets me. What is Keaton?

Or kratom even 🤪

in reply to bellalurcher

Kratom is a herbal drug that works on the opioid receptors, if you are against cannabis you will likely not want this either, (I would argue that cannabis would be much less harmful than the vast majority of prescribed drugs but that is for another thread : ) )/

Some drugs like antidepressants and antihistamines can make RLS worse. I was asking specifically are you on any drugs for RLS?

Also some conditions can cause/exacerbate RLS symptoms - anything that results in low iron and that includes poor diet eating disorders.

I have used cannabis until last year out of desperation and it works

I hate the smell but will do anything

I met 2 doctors and there wives on a cruise . They owned there own clinic .

One wife had RSL and she has used cannabis for years it worked perfectly for her RSL

Both the doctors said they use it nightly right before bed and they recommend it to all their friends who have difficulty sleeping .

So when Dr Sarah Benjamin recommended it thought what the heck . Dr Sara said that edible form is better for RSL and Parkinson because it goes via the liver it lasts longer in the system but it takes longer to kick in and you have to be careful of the quality .

So I have smoked it I HATE IT but it works and I’ve eaten it in cookies made which yes did work better it just lasts a bit longer .

The trouble it’s hard to get good quality Bush marijuana in Australia.

So now the government have prescribed me a spray for me it works also but tastes like an ash try so I add lemon essential oil .

But here’s the problem for me I CANNOT TRAVEL WITH IT it’s illegal in to many countries .

So glad the buprenorphine works for me ,

When I’m home if I have any pain or a headache or nausea I use the cab/ THC cannabis prescribed spray .

I said to the doctors I was worried about addiction with all the schedule 8 drugs marijuana etc I have to take something. I was actually in hospital at the time on OXYCODONE he he looked at me and said you have to accept that you have no choice with this condition you are going to have to take these kinds of drugs for LIFE .

He said the difference with addicts is they don’t have to .

He said the saying goes if you are lighting a joint at night that’s okay if you are lighting it in the morning you have a problem.

So I let that sink in and now I don’t beat myself up about the types of meds I have to take. Because I have no choice and I only take what I need at night . I personally don’t have an addictive personality that would be a problem for some

All the best 🙂

They saying goes if you take

I see from previous posts that you stopped the rotigitone patch cold turkey and went 5 days without sleep.

How long ago did you last use the patch because withdrawals last weeks.

Other meds that make RLS worse include most anti depressants, anti histamines and cough and cold meds.

You clearly still have RLS and need meds to deal with it. See your GP and discuss alternatives like gabapentin, pregabalin or opioids.

Until then you could try magnesium, gentle iron ( ferrous bisglycinate), compression socks, hot baths and yoga stretches.

I have suffered with rls for the last 20 years...the past 10 were the worst. I take roprinerole .Even though I know the side effects of this I cant go through the withdrawal.

There is just 1 thing that combats the most troublesome nights, dont want to put it here but would reply to messages x

Now you’ve got me intrigued about this one thing that combats the most troublesome of nights, is it legal?

Am I the only person to reply?

Well done for being brave enough to bring this up. (pardon the pun)

It never worked for me, but I have heard people say that

this sometimes alleviates the symptoms.

Yes, that definitely worked for me too in the past. Unfortunately I’ve lost my sex drive so it’s not an option currently.

Well that’s never going to happen for me. That boat sailed a long time ago for me and my hubby. He got sick 20yrs ago and let’s just say that there are parts of him that don’t work anymore.

Only trying to help hun. Remembered the great british public were not very open minded to this kind of thing. Hope you find something that works for you

Its been discussed on here before, i dont think we are that closed minded to be able to talk about it. :)
