Hi all. Well, it’s getting worse, my misses video’d it the other night and it really shocked me. I tried taking clonozepam..... but slept for 36 hours. My friend has recommended I get checked for MS as this is how his started.... it’s really getting me down. I dread bedtime.

I can identify with dreading bedtime...I don’t now.

Have you done any of the things that were suggested to you 3weeks ago? You haven’t said if you are taking anything for it.

Sorry, just tried and failed to edit this. I forgot you said you tried a clonazepam, was this prescribed for RLS, it isn’t usually the first line of treatment?

The dread of bed is a kind of phobia. It comes from lying in bed trying to sleep - - - and failing. It's boring, frustrating, worrying and thoroughly unpleasant. The more you do it, the more you condition yourself into expecting all those negative experiences.

There is a simple rule for this called either the 15 minute rule or the 20 minute rule, take your pick.

The rule is, if you have been lying in bed trying to sleep and haven't succeeded after 15minutes ( or 20), GET UP. Do something, then try again. If you fail again, get up again.

This sounds like you might possibly he up all night. So be it! If you don't do it "bed dread" escalates and the anxiety it causes means sleep has no chance.

As Lapsedancer says, you ought to do something about this. You would benefit from getting a proper diagnosis rather than comparing your "symptoms" to someone elses.

It may be that you don't even have RLS, the symptoms you describe in your last post could simply be due to anxiety. In the diagnostic criteria for RLS the fifth criteria is that all other explanations for the symptoms have been excluded and as I've recently read fidgeting and foot tapping can be nervous habits.

Don't be offended by this even doctors misdiagnose.

If it is confirmed that you definitely have RLS then you should be able to get proper medical treatment.

No. I still don’t sleep perfectly but I sleep enough. When I was sleeping abysmally I dreaded sleep with good reason. As soon as I started sleeping reasonably things changed

Sorry, I mean't to reply to Topmong1, not yourself.

It's Topmong who has the bed dread.

Stupid mistake!

Hi Topmong, I hope you read my comment which was intended for you, but I accidentally replied to Lapsedrunner instead.

Hi, I am once again trying clonazepam too. Doubling the dose doc gave me to 1mg as 500 micro grams not effective at all other than giving me a “hangover head”. Oooh you slept for 36 hours, I could do with that occasionally as I have gone 8 nights (that’s right 8 nights) without a moments rest or sleep, arrrggghhh 🤦‍♀️. My legs, arms and back won’t keep still, like electric shocks. Now my head jerks too, feel like a circus freak show act 🎪. Asked doc to prescribe Methadone as it has good results and no augmentation but it’s a no from the doc, as expected. Hope she suffers from this one day then she will be swigging Methadone like pop 🥤🍹. Hope you get some answers soon, I agree in dreading bedtime 🤦🏻‍♂️🥺
