Does anyone wake up in the middle of the night with RLS? I do and my doctor told me that is not part of RLS

Waking up
I've been awake many many nights with rsl.
This is very much part of RLS I think we’ll almost all agree!!
Your doctor appears to be fairly average, i.e. not knowing much about RLS.
However, in some respects, there may be an element of truth in what they say, (a bit).
It's this -
If you wake up and it's your RLS symptoms that wake you i.e. creepy sensation, urge to move, twitching etc. , then IT IS definitely your RLS
If you wake up and it's simply that you just wake up and can't get back to sleep AND you're taking a DA (Pramipexole, Ropinirole or Rotigotine) then it's the DA that's waking you up. (That's the bit).
If you're NOT taking a DA AND you just wake up - no RLS sdymptoms then there may be other factors in your insomnia on top of your RLS.
Read it any way you like, ulitmately your insomnia is mainly a result of your RLS.
Thank you so much for your input! I t really helped me to know I’m not crazy
Is it RLS or is it Periodic Limb Movement Disorder. At around 4.00 this morning I was thinking about this!
martino if its sensations and you find you are having that urge to move your legs then its RLS, that woke you up. PLMD you dont have any sensations or that urge to move, but PLMD can wake you up.
I am wakened up nearly every night, about 4 am, by RLS i.e. it’s the creepy sensation which jolts me awake. My neurologist, who specializes in RLS has prescribed medication precisely for that!
My RLS wakes me up in the night, its the sensations and that urge to move, .
I would say for you to get another doctor. I was up most of the night after falling asleep for a few hours due to the RLS. This happens very frequently and then I cannot get back to sleep. I keep moving and moving until I give up and get out of bed. Today is was 4:30 am and I gave us trying to sleep. Hate this.
I find that if I lie awake too long from anything, such as worrying, or pain, inevitably my RLS will start to bother me, even though I otherwise don't have trouble with RLS in the night (thanks to Ropinerole ER ). Not moving my legs makes the RLS act up, though it's worse if my legs are bent or my toes pointed, such as while traveling. For this reason, I take ibuprofen before bed, and again if I wake four or more hours later. I also use herbal remedies, such as peppermint oil between my toes. I'll try any combination of things to sleep, and get back to sleep when I wake, because of this.
