Ropinirole update

I love being able to share on this website!! It's been awhile since I've written and so many have shared on topics that I can relate to and get advice, ideas, and support. As an AA member I learned in the beginning that when I share it helps me but also others!! Anyhow...on 6 mg ropinirole for many years, augmentation last summer after 2 hip replacements, not a great summer. April 29th 2019 appt. with Dr. Winkleman...Mass General, some may have heard of. My symptoms had been nil for some months of course (I so could have used him last summer!!) Most of the appt was with a Dr. Sullivan and we mainly discussed my meds....even though I had been symptom-free he felt I should definitely get off the ropinirole, and the zolpidem I had been put on. My iron level was checked....not too low but enough that an over the counter supp could be used. I knew to SLOWLY cut down on the ropinirole and starting May 9th I began......now down to about 2 and 1/2 mg. I also was prescribed 300mg lyrica. And.....I smoke weed!! Lucky in Vermont to be able to get a medical card. So that's where I am now and knock on wood I go to sleep very easily. When I do get symptoms it's in my arms ....sometimes it's more unbearable than the legs!! I hope I have helped by this share....rather too long maybe ??!!

Hi tweedy, good to hear you are getting off the ropinerole, and yes i have heard of Dr Winkleman, he is one of the good guys who knows about RLS. Glad you shared, always good to hear of better things happening to our members .

Great to hear positive stories. Dr Winkleman is the lead doctor in the Massachusetts RLS opioid study so he is definitely knowledgeable.

The cannabis will help if the legs/arms play up.

Good luck in getting off the Ropinirole completely.

Thanks for sharing.
