I have always struggled with really bad RLS on flights, so much that I would avoid flying if I could. I would be in tears and desperate on a flight. Since taking gentle iron my legs are so much better so I decided to take the plunge. I have just returned from Hong Kong and a 12 hour flight and only had the problem for about 30 minutes on the return flight. I am so grateful to this site and to the lady who suggested gentle iron. Hong Kong has ticked a very big box for me.

Hi , I use the Vitabiotics gentle iron. It is called

Feroglobin. It works for me but there are lots of other suggestions on here too.

I am with you GillRLS, the iron is a lifesaver. Not a cure but the best temporary relief a person can imagine - if you're one of those that get relief from iron. Sometimes I feel like it's a dosage thing and that no matter how bad your RLS is, if you take enough gentle iron your RLS will go for the night or the flight ;).

Hi Eitheror, no not a cure but so good to get relief. I still get the odd session but very few and far between.

Glad you enjoyed Hong Kong. Happy trails.

Hi there GillRLS, the gang here is wondering how you are doing? Any more exotic vacations with the iron in tow 💥

No chance of any holidays until this virus gets sorted and we get freedom again

So true! How’s the RLS treating you theses days? Still taking iron?

Still taking them, all is good. Do you take iron too or are you just interested in RLS?

in reply toGillRLS

I take ferrous bisglycinate. Like yourself, it relieves the RLS. Wouldn’t be on this planet without it.

Pleased to hear it. I am surprised how many people just won’t try it but will take some very nasty drugs from the doctors. For me it has been life changing. Hope it keeps working for you .

For me it was life saving, due in large part to my own stupidity. In my early 40s I was taking melatonin. My mild, occasional RLS became a beast of unbelievable proportion. It was in my arms, my chest, my eyeballs. Naturally I didn’t make the connection. I read on some blog to “just take some iron at night, there’s something about that free-floating iron that helps.” I bought Gentle Iron because I have an oh so sensitive stomach. Needless to say it worked the night I bought it and every night thereafter until I ran out and the health food store was closed. I bought some ferrous sulfate at Walgreens figuring I would rather be constipated than sleepless. I took a tablet and went smiling off to relax in bed. An hour passed, then two and I still had wicked RLS. I thought what the fudge? I took a second capsule and eventually fell asleep. The next morning I ran to the health food store. Eventually I read that melatonin can aggravate RLS. The night I stopped the melatonin is the night I stopped the iron. My RLS went very quiet for a long time. Time caught up with me and my D2 receptors and here I am back on the iron.

There are no coincidences. All of the above was meant to happen. Not sure why. Maybe so you could finally get to Hong Kong 😅

How’s your daughter doing?

What a story you have to tell. Daughter is doing really well, very careful with food which seems to help, and the iron on hand for when needed. It was my daughter that took me to Hong Kong. Timed it well didn’t we. So grateful to the person that told me about the iron, sadly can’t remember who it was. Keep taking the pills and stay well.

this is the first time I’ve heard of gentle iron and so just ordered it. Perhaps I too could fly again! Thank you.
