Hi LeeLee! I’ve since changed my username. Remember me, jess3648? Anyway....how are you?!

Might you be thinking of Pramipexole?

Hi, it could be that yes, wasn’t 100% sure Thankyou. I’m not doing too good at mo, severely depressed and got lots of people on my back about things, needs to find this meds name cos it could possibly help in some way. Just hoping my gp is aware of it aswell. How are you Jess? X

Any time.🙂 Oh, I’m so sorry! Might I be able to help if you message me? I have depression as well, so I might be able to give some tips. I know that the more people want to help the more overwhelming it can get, though, so don’t feel pressured to.

I’m doing well in terms of the RLS, thanks for asking.

Believe me these are not side effects you want!! I just had to get off of Mirapex because of compulsive behaviors. Dealing with the behaviors and then the process of weaning off the Mirapex was a nightmare that is only a few weeks behind me!

Pramipexole

Hi LeeLee

I believe they are Ropinirole (Requip) and pramipexole (Mirapex) that can cause compulsive shopping, gambling etc.

All of the dopamine agonists and all the dopamine drugs for Parkinsons Disease. Pramipexole, Ropinerole, Neupro etcetera.

And LeeLee, it is not just a BIT compulsive, it can be hugely compulsive and destructive of quality of life. There are reports of suicide after patients have gambled away all of their family money.

But it could be food, sex, gambling, shopping - you name it.

The expert advice is this - if you experience compulsivity of any sort when taking DAs. you must stop.

Agree Ropinrole (Requip) - doctor briefed my wife to look out for signs of reckless behaviour when I started using it about 5 years ago.

Anything that increases, or boosts the effects of, dopamine:

Sounds like Ropinirole - those side effects are in the leaflet that comes with it.

I think it is all the dopamine agonists - so ropinerole, pramipexole and also rotigotine (neupro) which I haven't seen mentioned so far.

Keelee, Iwas on Mirapex and became a compulsive gambler; it nearly destroyed my life. Gamblers Anon. was a lifesaver as well as my husband. In recovery now for almost 8 years; it was an awful time in my life; I became a person I did not recognize. Brica

It sounds to me like OCD (obsessive compulsive order) but obviously Im not a doctor so Im just clutching at straws here with my own suggestion & not making a diagnosis- Have you thought about discussing it with your doctor to see if he can shed any light on it

Any of the dopamine meds can cause that. It is strong warning on them. rxlist.com Pramipexole, Ropinerole, Sinemet. Brand names are Mirapex and Requip for the first 2.

A number of drugs will do that like the sleep aid Ambien. My friend drove to the store in the middle of the night, bought a birthday cake and ate it. Next, he picked up a shotgun and shot himself in the head losing an eye but surviving.

I lost an estimated $75,000 with a compulsive gambling addiction because of this drug. Been off it for a year now and totally back to normal with no compulsive behaviors anymore. Just a mountain of debt to dig out from because of this horrible drug! I know it doesn't cause compulsive behaviors for most, but the ones it does trigger compulsive behavior for are dealt with earth shattering consequences! I almost lost my marriage over this drug and I almost killed myself because of it. I hate what it did to me and I was never warned of these potential behaviors before I started taking it and that makes me very very angry! I also lost 75 lbs. after I stopped taking it so I think it also had me compulsive eating as well. HORRIBLE HORRIBLE DRUG!

In Australia Mirapex is marketed under the name of Sifrol. You say a 'bit' compulsive ..... I'd call it massively compulsive.
