Did you have an MRI scan? Are you able to sit/ rest and fall asleep? Do you have the irresistible urge to move? Do all the strange feelings go away with movement ?
No meds-I had all MRI exept a DAT-scan...do not want to do this yet.
I can sleep almost normal.Sometimes I get cramps or have to move to do left or the right side ...but only once a week or month...
Restlesness is mostly during the day when watching TV-on a chair-bus or train.
It's like when I don't have anything to do it gets worse.
Main symptom at this moment are:
Pain shoulder and stiff neck-muscle spasm-shortness of musscless that it is difficult to grab something. Walking difficulties but once I walk (after 5 min) I can go very far...
Typing is also difficult because of the stiffness...
I feel something is wrong with my muscles because I have to stretch a lot...
Interesting that you can sleep normally and only have difficulty once a month.
Most people with RLS cannot lie down to sleep because the urge to move is irresistible. It is usually diagnosed by a sleep specialist at a sleep clinic.
I’m not convinced you have RLS and think you should ask for a second opinion from a specialist neurologist.
I agree with Jools. And I am not a doctor and would never diagnose this way, but have your doctors considered dystonia? I happened to read about it today, and looked it up (wikipedia). I hope not!
In sum, get a second opinion from a specialist. Hopefully you’ll find someone who really wants to understand what you have. Good luck.
Hello sandee,I'm a sufferer of rls for 10 years or more.i myself have leg spasms, cramps, and stiffness in legs but not only legs I have spasms in my torso as well which makes my biceps tense and my forearms and right down to my fingers, problems with gripping is my specialist thing.how many times I drop thing is a wonder to me,I'll drop the same thing 5-10 times in a matter of minutes,i have numerous scalding from hot water or drinks,I find my movement erratic and I to have the feels of wanting to explode inside only to find my body let's me down everytime.i have been diagnosed with rls, fibromyalgia, pain sensitivity syndrome, tennis elbow, repetitive strain injury in legs, arms, hands and fingers, nerve damage, involuntary movement and basically thrown to the back of the cue for help.ive have had so many nerve studies I cant remember, rheumatology basically said nothing there and wasn't over interested.sometimes it feels as if they do not believe us about our problems.been sent to pain clinic where all they do is muck my meds around and cause me more suffering..please do not feel you are alone.WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER..ONE WE ARE LONE BUT TOGTHER THEY MUST LISTEN..
You are correct,I think doctors do not believe us.We are just a number and I have to pay a lot and I still don't know what I have.
My biggest fear is P...,I am not gonne type the word...
You probably know what I am talking about and I don't want to get this disease.
Could live with every sickness put not with P.

It's the waiting for new symptoms (to rule out other diseases) that is making me crazy...
OK - how it is related I don't know, but my Severe RLS was preceded with a bout of Severe Muscle Cramps mostly in the evening. I tried everything to alleviate the muscle cramping - magnesium, magnesium oil, sea salt, and electrolytes. The severe RLS included both arms and some shaking - like a Parkinson's tremor, and of course zero sleep - up all night. Iron supplementation (Ferrous bisglycinate) literally "cured" the severe RLS in a month or less. I haven't taken the iron in a year. I still take electrolytes from Hammer Nutrition and try all manner of supplements to assuage lingering RLS insomnia (including the adrenal cocktail). So, somehow I became deficient in iron and electrolytes (especially mg, and potassium) causing the muscle cramps AND creating fertile ground for the RLS to kick in. I don't believe the muscle cramps and RLS are related to each other except that they both stem from the same sequence of events and deficiencies.
