I'll use add he short answer: augmentation is the paradoxical worsening of RLS symptoms that can arise after taking RLS medications, primarily those of the dopamine agonist class (comprising ropinerole, pramipexole, and the rotigotine patch). This means that taking any of these medications for a long time, or especially taking more than the recommended maximum, can make your RLS symptoms worse than they were when you started the medication.
