My shrink prescribed this for me today and insists it won't affect my rls. Has anyone tried this? Does it work and does it bother rls? Your thoughts are appreciated.

This reference may be of some help.
Basically your dr is ignorant of the basic fact that the majority of anti depressants are extremely bad for rls.
Be very careful of going the Pramipexol route, theremay be antidepressants that are not so antagonistic for rls.
Good luck.

To the Editor: Antidepressants can cause restless legs syndrome (RLS), which is as an adverse effect in the treatment of major depressive disorder. Here, we present the case of mirtazapine-induced RLS that improved with add-on pramipexole."
I was on it for about 3 days before I had to stop it, well that or rip off my legs and tear out my spine!!!!
Madlegs1 has some great info there. Be very careful of what your Dr thinks they know!!!!
Why do doctors prescribe it??? This doctor was so sure. I'm glad I have this site to find out more information. Thank you for responding.
Remeron, is listed on Dr. B website as one of the more RLS friendly anti-d's. but we have to remember that its all trial and error, some people can take this med without it making their RLS worse.
Thanks Elisse,
Maybe it wouldn't bother my legs. I'm just too chicken to find out!
I understand. There are 3 anti-d's that are considered RLS friendly one being Remeron, the other two are Trazadone and Wellbutrin (not available in the UK) Everyone will have a story on which one didnt bother their RLS and which did.
Are you sure that both your depression and rls aren't caused by the same thing, and that you might be able to cure yourself without medication? youtu.be/TXlVfwJ6RQU
Eryl,
Food can be a trigger/cause of RLS and depression in some people but not everyone.
Thanks for sharing but remember WAAD ( we are all different).
It made me eat all the time
