Lots of us have had success to some degree or another with cannabis, (marijuana is a slang and pejorative word for cannabis).

This should get you started:

Absolutely helps me in 15 mins, but it’s illegal where I live and hard to find! It feels like a miracle when I can get my hands on it! I live in the Southeastern US, so there’s no relief in sight for me...

I never imagined that a drug I had avoided as a young person due to concerns at the harmful nature of it I would be using to stay healthy because of the harmless nature of it!!!!

I smoked it in my teens and 20’s, stopping when we started a family. I never imagined that I would smoke again in my 50’s and that my youngest adult child would be sharing with me! Very strange! I use it only for medicinal purposes now when I can find it.

So how do you get marijuana if it's illegal in your state? I live near Charleston, SC and it's illegal over here, but I would like to try it for my RLS because I have heard it helps.

I’m in the Greenville area and, of course, illegal in the upstate too. You have to know someone who is safe to buy from. Not easy...

It works great

Yes. It works but the effects will not last through the night.

Please experiment more with type of cannabis, be sure you have enough THC in it, and play with the ratio of CBD/THC - it took me about a month to find what worked. Now I take a gummy an hour before bed, and use a cream on my legs (my primary symptom site), and 9 out of 10 nights. I sleep like a baby most nights. 7 or 8 hours, no symptoms when I wake up. You may not find a combo that works that well for you, we’re all different, but if you haven’t experimented, please consider it again. All best!

Eating cannabis, (make an oil or butter and combine in food - don't forget to gently bake it in the oven first at low temps), makes it last longer and have more potent effects.

Thanks Raffs, your advice much appreciated. I'm a novice with this stuff.

I don’t find it has any impact on my urge to move symptoms. I take it as an edible most nights because it helps a lot with my rls-related insomnia. I have tried 5 different varieties (with differing ratios of thc/cbd) but none seems to make a difference to the urge to move and I need a different med to impact on that. As is so often said: waad (‘we are so different’).

I notice in the latest edition of the US rls foundation magazine, Nightwalker, that there is an article (co-written by Dr Buchfuhrer) about cannabis which suggests it works better for rls when inhaled than used as an edible but the article concludes by saying there is inadequate evidence at this juncture and further research is required.
